Topic can refer to:

  • An area of interest, also called a Subject
  • What a composition is about; what is described by the main ideas and supporting details
  • Topic (or theme) in linguistics, the part of a Proposition that is being talked about (predicated)
  • A topic sentence, a sentence in a paragraph that indicates what the paragraph in general is about, usually the first sentence
  • An XML topic (a kind of resource)
  • Topicality, a stock issue in policy debate which pertains to whether or not the plan affirms the resolution as worded
  • Topical, a medical term

  • Topic Maps, an ISO standard for the representation and interchange of knowledge
