Usage
The infobox may be added by pasting the template as shown below into an article, typically at the top of an article above the lead section. All parameters are optional; any unused parameters should be left blank or omitted.Full version
<table class="infobox vcard" cellspacing="5" style="width:22em; text-align:left; font-size:88%; line-height:1.5em; font-size:90%; text-align:left;"> </table>
Parameters
| Parameter | Explanation |
|---|---|
name | Insert the name of the person. Use the common name – typically name of article – if multiple names exist. Defaults to PAGENAME if omitted or left blank. |
image | Insert image name. Use only the file name such as abc.jpg, xyz.png, 123.gif, etc. Do not use syntax such as Please note that images of living people do not generally meet the criteria for non-free use on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:NONFREE for a detailed rationale. |
imagesize | This parameter should only be used if it is necessary to overrule viewers' default thumb size preferences. Unfortunately, this template has nothing to do with viewers' preferences, and will override them, even if no value is given for this parameter. If the image's nominal width is smaller than 220 pixels (this can be found on the image's description page), you must specify that width or a smaller one. |
alt | Alt text for the image, for readers who can't see the image. See Wikipedia:ALT. |
caption | Insert a caption for the image. If known, try to include the location and date of photo. |

birthdate | Insert the person's date of birth. Consider using Birth date and age for a living person, otherwise use Birth date. |

Please ensure that the link points to the desired article, e.g. Model (person), not Model which is a disambiguation page. |

spouse | Insert the names of the person's spouse(s). Use the format: FirstName MaidenName (Year–Year)If still married, use "present" in place of the end year. Separate multiple entries with a line break ( ). Multiple marriages should be listed in chronological order, beginning with the earliest. |

Microformat
The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of Microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if Birth date, Birth date and age, or Birth-date are used in the infobox. (but do not use these if the date is before 1583 CE).
To include a URL, use Url
hCard uses HTML classes including:
- adr
- agent
- bday
- category
- country-name
- extended-address
- family-name
- fn (required)
- given-name
- honorific-prefix
- honorific-suffix
- label
- locality
- n
- nickname
- note
- org
- role
- url
- vcard
Please do not rename or remove these classes; nor collapse nested elements which use them.
